Wedding Dances

Our wedding dance service is becoming more and more popular. We will choreograph your first dance to your own specifications, whether you are both complete beginners or more advanced dancers.

You choose your favourite music, or if you have no preference we will help you choose an appropriate track. We will advise on the type of dance the music is most suited to and create a dance that you can both dance competently on the day, whether or not you are nervous, have had a drink (or two) beforehand, or suddenly find that the bride's dress is bigger than expected!

There are several things to consider when planning your first dance:

1) Your level of experience of dancing

2) How big is YOUR dance floor?

3) How big is the bride's dress / groom's suit?

4) How comfortable are your shoes ?

5) 2 minutes will seem quite a long time to dance. 4 1/2 minutes will feel like an eternity, so choose your track carefully

6) Do you want a simple routine, or something flashy? If the latter, are you really up to it?

7) Do you find it easy to memorise routines?

8) How many lessons do you think you will need?

Ladies - please, please consider how tight your dress will be before setting your heart on a particular type of dance, or be willing to change into something more practical just for your first dance. Few people have trouble with waltzes etc, but tangos and jives have been known to cause problems through lack of flair in the dress :)

We generally try and keep the dances fairly straightforward, using simple choreography that still looks impressive to the audience and feels great to you. The most important effect we need to create is that you dance as a couple, so we will assess your dancing skills both as individuals and as a couple, so that together we can make the most of your big moment by matching your skills to your music.

Most couples have a minimum of 6 x 1hr lessons, either weekly or fortnightly. We have had people who have had just 2 lessons, and others that have had 12 lessons. Unless you feel very confident, we would recommend at least 4 lessons.

FEES

Prices very much depend on whether you can come to one of our standard locations at a time convenient to us, or whether you want us to come to you, or work out of standard hours e.g. very early morning or late evening. If we travel to you, the cost will be higher because of travelling expenses and extra time incurred, but we are always considerate and do our best to keep your costs down.

The standard hourly fee from Sept 1st 2007 is £35 per couple per hour.

What you get for your money

Once you start lessons with us for an agreed price per lesson, we will choreograph your routine, in close association with you. We will  provide you with a written copy of your routine as it develops, with full explanations of the figures if required (diagrams if necessary), and as much email advice as you require at no extra cost. On request, and for a token fee we will also provide you with a DVD copy of your final practice session.
